The Invisalign teeth straightening system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to shift your teeth into a straighter position.
During your Invisalign evaluation, your dentist takes a digital image of your mouth, which is then used to create your custom-made set of aligners and overall treatment plan. The computer program also allows your dentist to show you the exact movement of your teeth as you go through treatment, demonstrating your new smile.
You wear one set of aligners for about four weeks, then change to the next set, gradually moving your teeth into a straighter position. Generally, it’s recommended you wear your aligners for 22-24 hours a day to reap the most benefits. You should also take them out to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.
You may have to avoid sticky foods or gum that could pull on the aligners. You should still brush your teeth after you eat to remove any food particles before you put your aligners back in.
